Otaru in Addison!

OMG Blogger!! Que hiatus! Finally! Anyhow...

My man and I enjoyed a freaking fabulous evening at Otaru in Addison this past Thursday night! We arrived pretty late in the dinner scheme of it all, around 10pm, and they were still serving full force! Thank Goddess because I was famished;)

Our gorgeous host, Mr. Sean Lee who knows everybody if they are anybody in Dallas, toasted our arrival with a delicious little Blue Monkey shot named after his company;)  It may look radioactive, but it was tasty!

Then we got the shocking news that sushi was half off...yes, HALF OFF!! Well you could practically see the gerbil in my man's head take off in full flight. The ordering frenzy began and we commenced with what else but Sake and Ichiban....

We dined at the sushi bar which kind of looks like an igloo, with neon lights flashing different colors every few minutes illuminating their liquor selection.

The venue has an open floor plan with several different nooks you could request for a more VIP experience and also has a full bar and DJ area for nights the restaurant turns into a dance club;)

The vibe is dark and sexy and the crowd was abundant and pretty damn attractive;)

While our waitress seemed forgetful of our edamame, she made up for it by surprising  us with complimentary miso soup....

And an amazing deep fried jalapeno stuffed with crab meat...oh shit....

After we destroyed our appetizers, we excitedly went onto our tuna and salmon sashimi which was perfect. And I must say that sashimi is my favorite food on the planet. I am in constant search of restaurants that don't put the little fishies to shame by letting them stink to high heaven or slaughter them with a dull knife. This place knows what's up and Otaru can stand proud of their Sushi Chefs! Take a look...

Tuna won for the night. But salmon came in a close second...

And just as we expertly threw down the last bite of sashimi with our stix, this beautiful thing appeared in front of us...They call it The Hawaiian. And it was amahhhzing!
This roll is perfect for a new sushi eater as it is essentially a California Roll with tuna sashimi on top.

For my fellow experts and spicy food lovers, I recommend the next roll-appropriately named The 911 Roll.
Somebody call for help cuz this thing is HOT!

I mean look at that! Good thing we had beer a flowing because anything that shows up with it's own flame is gonna need some dousing...mmmm. I won't tell you what's in it, because to be honest, this was the last item of the evening and the Sake was doing her job. All I know is the 911 Roll will be revisited very soon;)

If you looove sushi, don't want to drive into Dallas, and enjoy a semi-romantic setting, Otaru in Addison is calling your name! Did I mention sushi is half off on Thursdays?!
Thanks again to Sean Lee, this little Donald Trump Jr. above;)
One of my only followers and biggest fans-right back atchya! Well done, sir:)

Cafe Istanbul at The Shops at Legacy

Mmmmmmmmm. Just enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at Cafe Istanbul with my adorable mama and we thought they deserved a shoutout;) Their patio is cozy and cushy and the couches and intimate seating arrangements beckoned us to plop right down and soak up the sun:) So we did!

We started with some delish hummus and fluffy bread....

(and yes, some vino;) Those grape leaf wraps were interesting and quite tasty too. They are served cold though which may catch you off guard, but get over it and dig in because they are great;)
Then our lamb salad came out and we were happy we decided to split it because dannnnng, it was enormous!

Isn't that beautiful! I love lamb and this gyro style meat was lamb and beef pressed together, it was savory and light all at the same time. Corn, radish, carrot, cucumber.....yum yum!
After all that eating we still had a ton of shopping around to do, mostly window shopping, but I needed a boost so I went for the espresso-like coffee drink...
Not only was the cute little coffee mug and saucer charming as all get out, that espresso was like drinking hot chocolate! Thickkkkkk, boy it was thick. And surely did the trick! I was buzzing like a bumblebee;)

So ya! If you are exploring The Shops at Legacy, don't forget about this little gem, Cafe Istanbul, just across from Ra Sushi on Lonestar Drive;) With a Mediterranean menu and beautiful patio, you will feel transported and uplifted;) Don't pass on the VINO!

SFUZZI UPTOWN IS SPECTACULAR!

I arrived early for our 7pm reservation and good thing I did! Tuesday was the one year anniversary of Sfuzzi in Uptown and they welcomed roughly 500 guests! We started at the outdoor bar which was decorated with ecclectic lanterns and has a funky, bohemian feel. Take a look...
Really cool vibe...
Here's Me and my date Desi, ready to grub!!!

To celebrate the anniversary, the wait staff rocked 1920's flapper dresses and suspenders, feather headbands, and funky makeup. Cameron was adorable and Liz was gorgeous and enthusiastic while delivering our amazing drinks;)

Red Bull Frozen Vodkas from this badass ice bar all night!

But I really gotta give Sfuzzi props for their amazing Blueberry Frozen Mojitos and delicious Vodka tonics!

As we enjoyed our drinks and ordered from their preset menu, I was blown away to discover that unescorted ladies dine for free, yes, for FREE, every Tuesday night!!! WHAAAAAAT!?! You'd think they'd serve up some slop right? But let me tell you, dinner was fantastic and plentiful. We chose from 3 different appetizers including Chicken Minestrone, Ahi Papaya Salad and The Dame's Salad.
We went with the salads which were amazing and light. This is the Dame's Salad with watermelon, tomatoes, oranges, basil...mmmm..
