My man and I enjoyed a freaking fabulous evening at Otaru in Addison this past Thursday night! We arrived pretty late in the dinner scheme of it all, around 10pm, and they were still serving full force! Thank Goddess because I was famished;)
Our gorgeous host, Mr. Sean Lee who knows everybody if they are anybody in Dallas, toasted our arrival with a delicious little Blue Monkey shot named after his company;) It may look radioactive, but it was tasty!
Then we got the shocking news that sushi was half off...yes, HALF OFF!! Well you could practically see the gerbil in my man's head take off in full flight. The ordering frenzy began and we commenced with what else but Sake and Ichiban....
We dined at the sushi bar which kind of looks like an igloo, with neon lights flashing different colors every few minutes illuminating their liquor selection.
The venue has an open floor plan with several different nooks you could request for a more VIP experience and also has a full bar and DJ area for nights the restaurant turns into a dance club;)
The vibe is dark and sexy and the crowd was abundant and pretty damn attractive;)
While our waitress seemed forgetful of our edamame, she made up for it by surprising us with complimentary miso soup....
And an amazing deep fried jalapeno stuffed with crab meat...oh shit....
After we destroyed our appetizers, we excitedly went onto our tuna and salmon sashimi which was perfect. And I must say that sashimi is my favorite food on the planet. I am in constant search of restaurants that don't put the little fishies to shame by letting them stink to high heaven or slaughter them with a dull knife. This place knows what's up and Otaru can stand proud of their Sushi Chefs! Take a look...
Tuna won for the night. But salmon came in a close second...
And just as we expertly threw down the last bite of sashimi with our stix, this beautiful thing appeared in front of us...They call it The Hawaiian. And it was amahhhzing!
This roll is perfect for a new sushi eater as it is essentially a California Roll with tuna sashimi on top.
For my fellow experts and spicy food lovers, I recommend the next roll-appropriately named The 911 Roll.
Somebody call for help cuz this thing is HOT!
I mean look at that! Good thing we had beer a flowing because anything that shows up with it's own flame is gonna need some dousing...mmmm. I won't tell you what's in it, because to be honest, this was the last item of the evening and the Sake was doing her job. All I know is the 911 Roll will be revisited very soon;)
If you looove sushi, don't want to drive into Dallas, and enjoy a semi-romantic setting, Otaru in Addison is calling your name! Did I mention sushi is half off on Thursdays?!
Thanks again to Sean Lee, this little Donald Trump Jr. above;)
One of my only followers and biggest fans-right back atchya! Well done, sir:)
